Homegrown, Low-Cost E85 Is Helping Iowans Combat High Gas Prices

JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today announced that while Iowa gas prices have recently risen sharply, ethanol is continuing to help consumers save money. While E15 is typically being sold at a 15 cent discount to unblended fuel, flex-fuel vehicle (FFV) owners have seen E85 priced as much as $1.23 per gallon lower than regular, unblended gasoline (see attached photos).

“Iowa gas prices have been on the rise, but ethanol blends—especially E85—are helping Iowans save some of their hard earned money,” stated IRFA Communications Director T.J. Page. “E85 is a renewable, clean burning fuel produced right here in Iowa. Using E85 is not only saving consumers more than a dollar per gallon, it is boosting the Iowa economy, supporting local jobs, and creating a healthier environment.”
