Iowa Gains 15th Registered E15 Station

 JOHNSTON, IOWA –Farm Service Cooperative (FSC) in Harlan today announced it has begun selling E15 to 2001 and newer vehicles, making it the 15th registered E15 station in Iowa. In addition to E15, FSC also offers E30, E50 and E85 to flex-fuel vehicle (FFV) owners.

“Being farmer-owned, we wanted to support the agriculture industry by offering more ethanol options to our customers,” stated FSC Energy Manager Mike Evers.

“While Big Oil continues to spread misinformation on E15, Iowa’s list of registered E15 stations continues to grow as retailers see the value E15 provides,” stated IRFA Managing Director Lucy Norton. “E15 saves their customers money, plus it supports local jobs and makes our air healthier to breathe.”

Farm Service Cooperative is located in Western Iowa at 2050 Chatburn Avenue in Harlan. E15, a blend of gasoline and 15 percent ethanol, can be used by all 2001 and newer passenger vehicles, which account for about 85 percent of fuel use in the United States.  In order to offer E15, a retailer must register with the EPA.  IRFA assists retailers in the registration process to ensure they comply with all applicable federal and state E15 regulations.

Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 42 ethanol refineries capable of producing over 3.8 billion gallons annually, with three cellulosic ethanol facilities currently under construction. In addition, Iowa has 12 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce nearly 315 million gallons annually.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
