IRFA seeks applicants for Communications Director position

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA), headquartered in Johnston, Iowa, is seeking qualified applicants to serve as the state-level trade association’s Communications Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Director will oversee and implement all communications activities with the media, association members and the public. This will include social media efforts, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and the association’s webpage. In addition, the successful applicant will provide support to and implement programs of the IRFA Biodiesel Promotion Committee.
To accomplish these goals, the Communications Director will develop action plans and budgets for their area of responsibility, stay informed on market and technical issues impacting the industry, maintain media databases, and help plan and promote IRFA marketing events, promotions and special events. As is common with trade associations, all IRFA staff members are responsible for multiple programs and will be assigned duties not specially outlined in the job description.
The successful candidate will have an applicable bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of one to two years of communications or marketing work experience. Knowledge of the renewable fuels industry and U.S. agriculture is a plus, but not required. Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress (website), Twitter, Facebook, Constant Contact, and other social media and creative applications is preferred.
