IRFA: “Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District is far and away the leading renewable fuels producing district in the nation”

JOHNSTON, IOWA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today released the results of its 2014 Iowa Fourth Congressional District Candidate Renewable Fuels Survey, highlighting strong support for renewable fuels among the leading candidates. The full results and responses from candidates U.S. Rep. Steve King (R) and Jim Mowrer (D) can be found here: https://iowarfa.org/20144thDist.CandidateSurveys.php.

“Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District is far and away the leading renewable fuels producing district in the nation, so it’s great to see both candidates showed unwavering support for ethanol and biodiesel in their responses to the survey,” stated IRFA Policy Director Grant Menke. “The tens of thousands of Iowans invested in and employed by the state’s renewable fuels industry deserve to know where all the candidates stand on these important issues.”

The IRFA will continue to release candidate survey results for other races at a later date. To view all of the survey results, please visit the 2014 Iowa Renewable Fuels Candidate Survey Results homepage at: https://iowarfa.org/2014CandidateSurveys.php.

Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 42 ethanol refineries capable of producing over 3.8 billion gallons annually, with three cellulosic ethanol facilities currently under construction. In addition, Iowa has 12 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce nearly 315 million gallons annually.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
