MASON CITY | Golden Grain Energy will produce its 1 billionth gallon of ethanol later this month.
“Obviously it’s something to be proud of,” said Chad Kuhlers, chief operations officer who has been with the plant since it began production in December 2004.
“It’s a big accomplishment for a single location facility,” added Curt Strong, commodity manager. “We’re probably one of the first plants to achieve this.”
The milestone should take place near the end of February pending various factors, such as rail availability, Kuhlers said.
“It’s a tip of the hat to all the employees for the last 10 years, and really a tip of the hat to the board of directors, too,” Strong said.
