JOHNSTON, IA – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst recently announced that she would be joining the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) when the Senate resumes its work in January of 2017. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) Executive Director Monte Shaw made the following statement:
“This is really big news for Sen. Ernst and for Iowa, and Iowa’s ethanol and biodiesel producers offer their hearty congratulations. The EPW committee is likely one of the two most important committees a Senator could serve on to promote and protect the interests of Iowa. For example, as a member of the EPW committee, Sen. Ernst is in a great position to protect the Renewable Fuel Standard and protect Iowa farmers and businesses from regulatory overreach. While her commitment to rural Iowa will not change, we look forward to working with Sen. Ernst on her new committee.”
