JOHNSTON, IOWA – Kwik Star has recently added E15 to 17 of its Iowa locations, securing its position as the 2nd largest retailer of E15 in Iowa. Iowa now has 121 E15 fueling locations.

This is only the beginning for this Midwest-based retailer’s plans to embrace E15.  Over the course of the next few years, Kwik Trip – which operates in Iowa under the name “Kwik Star” – intends to add E15 to almost all of its 550 locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.

“Kwik Trip prides itself in offering the best customer experience and the most choices,” said Kwik Trip General Manager of Fuel Procurement and Marketing Joel Hirschboeck.   “This is just another example of how we provide industry leading guest service, by offering a new product with more octane at a lower cost than Regular Unleaded.  Unleaded 88 is the best value available at the dispenser.”

E15 is a fuel made of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent petroleum and is approved for all 2001 and newer vehicles. To find an E15 station near you, click here. Many Kwik Star locations also offer E85. E85 fuel is made with at least 70 percent ethanol and is approved for all flexible fuel vehicles. To find E85 in your community, click here.

“It’s incredible to see how almost overnight Kwik Star jumped to Iowa’s 2nd largest provider of E15,” said Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw. “Kwik Star is bringing E15 to new areas around the state and introducing consumers to a high-performing fuel that reduces cancer-causing chemicals and greenhouse gas emissions. Consumers are excited to learn they can purchase this superior fuel at a lower cost.”

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association represents the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry and works to foster its growth. Iowa is the nation’s leader in renewable fuels production with 43 ethanol refineries capable of producing 4 billion gallons annually – including nearly 55 million gallons of annual cellulosic ethanol production capacity – and 12 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce over 350 million gallons annually.
