| WEST DES MOINES, IA – For the third week in a row, the wholesale price of E85 in Iowa has remained at 10 cents per gallon from at least one supplier. Flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs), which make up 12% of Iowa’s vehicle fleet according to the Iowa Department of Transportation, can use fuel containing any blend up ethanol up to E85 (85% ethanol).
“Many Iowa ethanol producers are passing the record cost-savings of ethanol blends like E85 onto the wholesale market,” said Monte Shaw, Executive Director for the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association. “IRFA gets calls asking why those savings aren’t making it through to consumers. It’s a fair question. We urge retailers to take advantage of the wholesale suppliers offering these low prices, and we hope they will pass those low costs on to their customers.”
IRFA encourages consumers to look for E85 pricing in their communities and take advantage of opportunities to save when fueling their flex-fuel vehicles. |
